The historical center of Sevastopol - the unique monument of the classical architecture - is the heart of the Leninskiy region and the whole city. Leninskiy region got its present name in 1961 (its name was Stalinskiy before). This is the central region of the city, its territory is 2600 hectares.
The population of the region is 110,26 thousand people.
About 500 enterprises and institutions are working here, however, the region is situated in the central, intended for building, part of the city, and that is why there are a few large industrial enterprises here. They are - the enterprise "Era", the bread-baking plant of S. Kirov, the milk plant, the meat-processing plant, the sea commercial port, SCE "Sevtrolleybus", and motor transport enterprises.
The central offices of the biggest construction companies, the oil traders, ship owners, and banks are situated here.
Most of the cultural institutions - theatres, museums, cinemas, palaces of culture - are also situated in the Leninskiy region.
The Sevastopol City State Administration and the City Council are situated at the territory of the region, the Naval staffs of Ukraine and the Black sea Navy of Russia, the military units of both navies are deployed here.

The natural borders of the Leninskiy region are the Karantinnaya Bay and the Karantinnaya valley from the west, the Sarandinakina valley and the South Bay from the east, the coast of the Sevastopol Bay - from the north, and the borders of Balaklavskiy and Gagarinskiy regions from the south.
